No estaba del todo seguro acerca de que escribir, tenía varios temas en el tintero. No sabía si criticar o halagar al amor, en su lugar, creo haré un repaso de qué es el amor, muy simplificado. Si bien la antesala del amor es una emoción, la esencia pura y verdadera del amor es una elección.
No hay mérito alguno en cruzar cielo, mar y tierra cuando no tienes dominio de ti mismo, así como un borracho queda excusado hasta cierto grado de sus percances, el drogado también de sus méritos, porque no tenía la facultad de elegir hacerlos. El amor es meritorio cuando uno elige de manera consciente y permanente amar, no sentir nada, amar, porque el amor es una acción, no se siente, se hace.
Cautiva la parte emocional del amor porque estamos orientado a ello, porque en verdad es emocionante, nadie dice que no ¿Verdad? Pero sobretodo lo que se hace pasar por amor.
¿Quién no tuvo la emoción de enamorarse por primera vez? Es intenso, uno se aferra; las cosas que duelen, duelen mucho; lo bueno, también se disfruta mucho. Algunas personas maduran y recuerdan aquello como algo bueno (y dependiendo de cómo terminó, como algo enfermo), otras se ven tentadas a buscar otra vez la sensación o sensaciones intensas que uno disfruta en el primer amor.
Lo curioso de la depravación es que, generalmente, se siente bien. El dolor se disfruta y el placer va envuelto en un halo de emociones que nos acercan más a ser animales que seres racionales. Por supuesto que si alguien cree que el amor es un conjunto de sentimientos y placeres que te hacen feliz y eventualmente desgastan tu dopamina, estoy radicalmente en contra de esa definición.
Pero, si el amor es la decisión que se opone a perdernos en un abismo de sentimientos y placeres que nos vuelven mediocres, si el amor es un reflejo de la Eterna Virtud, entonces tengo serias razones para creer que mi trabajo en este sitio tiene un gran valor para este mundo.
Decía San Agustín: Ama y haz lo que quieras. Si amas de verdad no hay necesidad de explicarte la frase, sino lo haces, decide amar en serio hoy, podría ser lo único que te salve de la depravación.
